Manierismo by Federico Jannacchino

Looking at this particular project of an Italian photographer Federico Jannacchino it feels like we travel the time. “After taking my photographs it often happens that I discover some pictorial quotes in them or some references to some painting, some author or some artistic movement,” explains Federico on how he feels about his own work. “An inspiration on reverse, where is the unconscious of my precipitated inner that clearly emerges something in my photos from the past, perhaps determining the choice of style and aesthetics during the time of the shooting. But it’s merely a guess.”

After completing these Fuji/Polaroid series, the photographs resemble of a Mannerism [European art period that rose up out of the later years of the Italian High Renaissance around 1520], hence, Federico titles his series as Manierismo. “In particular, the photographs in which the subject is lying down on the bed made me think about Parmigianino (Girolamo Francesco Maria Mazzola), its sharp faces, midway between the human and the metaphysical, the symbolic, in which the light (as in the photo) gives the idea of birth and death together, to appear in the light, to disappear into the darkness.”

“A fine line that is nice to cross occasionally with the eyes, with the mind, with the photography,” concludes Federico.05s
