“I like to see life going on in the frame, to observe people’s emotions,” says Odessa-based photographer Vitalik Melnikov. We have been following Vitalik’s work for quite some time and we always loved the feelings and moods he captures in his photographs. We caught up with the young talent and he explains the process of making his art. “Most often than not, I do plan in advance. Spontaneity is a luxury, though I still try to achieve it despite doing the model, location and style arrangements in advance”, explains Vitalik. “The model conveys the emotion I want from her”.
Looking at Vitalik’s images one can tell what Vitalik does, he is doing magnificently. Undoubtedly for Vitalik the inspiration lies with people and interaction with them. “But books, movies and music are also inspiring,” adds Vitalik. He describes his photographic style as “lifestyle”, however there is something more beyond the ordinary beauty in his images. Most of his work is shot on analogue, which only adds to its realness. “Though at times I want to do something radically different…” concludes Vitalik. Let’s see what Vitalik brings next.
